The Rev. Robert L. Patterson served from
1901-02,
and of his brief ministry it was written that there was “a marked deepening
of the religious consciousness and a real concern for the things of the true
faith.”
The Rev. Harvey E. Simon’s ministry was next. Coming from northeastern Ohio
in 1902, the Rev. Harvey E. Simon served the church one year and four months.
Next came the Rev. Alonzo B. Garman who, in
his two years (1905-07), instituted the observance of Harvest Festival ”as a
time of bringing offerings of fruit, vegetables, and other supplies for the then
newly established Oesterlen Orphans’ Home at Springfield, Ohio.”
The Rev. Martin L. Smith was elected pastor
and began his ministry May 1, 1908, and served for about two years.
The Rev.
George H. Weber followed in 1910.
In his history notes, the Rev. Crowell wrote of pastor Weber: “(He) served faithfully
and well during the short period of his ministry, the entire time of which he
was so sorely afflicted with Tuberculosis from which he died at the Easter season
of 1912. It would indeed be a mark of ingratitude to fail to pay tribute to
this splendid young man who fell asleep in Christ so early in life, leaving
a record of which many an older man might well be proud.”
